Mark Clayton is a shareholder in Lionel Sawyer & Collins’ Gaming and Regulatory Law Department. Prior to joining the Firm, Mr. Clayton was a member of the Nevada State Gaming Control Board (2005-2008). He was in private law practice between 1990 and 1993 with an emphasis in corporate and securities law. He served as the Chief of the Gaming Control Board’s Corporate Securities Division from 1993 to 1995. From 1995 to 1998 Mr. Clayton was Vice President, General Counsel and Assistant Secretary for Showboat, Inc.; he was Vice President and General Counsel for Aladdin Gaming Holdings, LLC and Aladdin Gaming, LLC from 1998 to 2001; and was Vice President-Corporate Law for Caesars Entertainment, Inc. from 2001 to 2005.
In addition to his numerous other activities in the gaming law field, Mr. Clayton is an adjunct professor for gaming law and a member of the Gaming Law Advisory Council at the William S. Boyd School of Law, University of Nevada, Las Vegas. In 2009 he was honored by Las Vegas Business Press as one of the "Top 10 Lawyers" in Southern Nevada, acknowledged as the region's top attorney in the area of Gaming Law. He was also recognized by Super Lawyers in 2011 and 2012 and was named one of the "Top 10 Gaming Attorneys" by the Las Vegas Business Press in 2012. Nevada Business magazine named Mr. Clayton to their 2012 list of "Legal Elite," among the top two percent of all Nevada attorneys. Chambers USA included Mr. Clayton as one of the leading gaming attorneys in their 2012 Edition of America's Leading Lawyers for Business. He was named to Best Lawyers in their 2013 Edition for Gaming Law.
